After a whole bunch of work and hiding in my cave of software development vimoMail is now for sale! vimoMail is a Java J2ME mail client for phones. It supports POP, IMAP, SMTP and all kinds of other good stuff. Go check it out!
This project has been a lot of fun, and will continue to be. It’s been a great learning experience. I learned a ton about J2ME, re-learned a bunch of Ruby + Rails, learned about SMS gateways and got to write some Java that actually requires decent performance, which is a big change from the norm.
Hopefully everyone thinks they just can’t live without vimoMail and I get absurdly rich. Yea!
If only I had a cell phone and ever bothered checking my e-mail…
Man, when does the awesome stop?
Very cool! I know that Sprint has contests for developers and the prizes are nice. They actually launch the apps. Check it out. They have a Location Based Services challenge going now. If you can make a phone display helpful information or play sounds about the location where you are standing, including ads, I’m sure the money will find you.

I really want to do some LBS stuff, that’s part of the reason I bought the phone I did, but to even run the stuff in developer / test mode you need a $500 certificate from Verisign. So lame.
