Hawt

If I’m going to go home and eat soup for lunch every day I’m going to have to learn to be a little more patient. The roof of my mouth has been scorched now for like a week. Man, it’s hard though. Soup is good!

So last night was The Killers and Tegan and Sarah at The Uptown. Beforehand we ate at what is my new favorite restaurant: Rudy’s. It’s a little Mexican hole in the wall that Tony introduced me to and it’s incredible. I made an absolute pig of myself and walked out so stuffed I could barely move. That hampered my beer consumption for the concert, but that’s okay. I didn’t wanna have any anyway.

Anyway, Tegan and Sarah were okay. I really like their song “Walking With a Ghost” and after hearing it I bought their latest album. Turns out that was the best part (IMHO! Settle down, Courtney) and I didn’t much care for the rest. I’m just not much of a twin sister lesbian rock kinda guy I guess. Twin sister lesbian OTHER stuff maybe. They played well but it just wasn’t my thing.

The Killers on the other hand are my thing and they rocked everyone’s collective socks off. I expected good sound, and I expected good tunes but I didn’t know what to expect from the band itself. Part of going to and enjoying a show is seeing the people that make the music and the way they act and perform can make or break a show for me. For instance, when I saw The Strokes a while back it was obvious that the whole band had complete disdain for the audience. They didn’t want to be there and they were just reciting the music. I love The Strokes music, but I won’t go out of my way to see them again.
The Killers didn’t have that problem. They were in love with the crowd and it showed. They appreciated the applause and the screams and responded in turn with more energy and power. Very cool show. Not much too unexpected, in fact they nearly played their album in order from start to finish. They threw in a few new songs during the set but it was mostly “Hot Fuss”.

I’ll be going to Lollapalooza in Chicago this year and they’ll be there along with the frickin’ PIXIES so that’ll rock.

After the show we bounced over to Harry’s for a bit to meet up with Scotty and his buds. Had a drink or two and headed over to Scott’s new place downtown which I hadn’t seen yet. Very cool. He’s on the 11th floor and has a great view of the city, plus the place is much roomier than I would have expected for a loft/condo type thing. Too bad they don’t allow huge black dogs, deafening music and house parties that last all night. Oh well, the suburbs have to be good for something 🙂

I’ve certainly been blogging a lot recently.

  1. Ok. Now you must be smothered with lyrics

    one time in your life
you’ve got the route in hand but the map is stuck
    they said it’s
not your fault the tires are tired the camera moves
    and your drivers been pulled
and i i have always felt this
and i i could never hear it
so i turned it up and turned it on
    and turned it down
always the volume always the words
review the press and tell it like it is
your life is hype, your love is hype
and i i will clench my own fist
and i i will always wait
there’s more there’s more than blood that beats
    through my heart
my hands my feet stuck between my tounge
    and my teeth
we don’t know so we wait for tomorrow
we don’t know so we wait for tomorrow
we don’t know so we only go forward
two times in your life you will trace the edge
    sink your toes in
review the press and tell it like it is
my life is hype my love is hype
and i i will clench my own fist
and i i will always wait
i’d wait up all nite for you
